Doubt it. The stock stuff is very different, I imagine stuff like Sharkskinz is as well. For starters, the subframes and mounting points are different.

When you say subframe, do you mean that the tail section is substantially different? I mean, it is obvious that the headlight area is different, but perhaps a 954 fairing stay could make it fit. If it's race bodywork, there is no need to worry about making a headlight line up.

My understanding is that the subframes and mounting points are different. You can't directly bolt on a stock rear cowl from a 954 onto a 929. Someone on this board did it, but it took some modifying. Could you modify race bodywork to fit? Probably if you're willing to take the time. It would have to be a pretty damned good deal for me to want to bother. Sometimes the stuff made for the specific bike takes some tweaking to fit.

Are you looking for some nice 929 racing bodywork and found the 954? Or do you like the 954 bodywork better?

I have a 929 but I was just curious if the 954 bodywork fit. I think the 954 looks a little better. I haven't decided if I want to convert my 929 to track duty or not. It needs some tranny work.

Well, if you want to track it, I've got some really sweet 929 bodywork that is already painted. And no, it is not what you see in my avitar.

Not sure if all the makes of race bodywork for the 929 are the same when it comes to fitting . The Race Products fairing will not fit properly if you have the standard pipe as it hits the exhaust valve if you try to line up the mounting points

Nedro, What brand is the bodywork? How much?
Here's my dilema:
Should I pull the motor, fix the tranny and track my 929 w/40k miles on it? Pic is old but bike still looks pretty good.

Should I repair my old CBR f4 race bike and track it [bullet proof]? The pic is old. It needs bodywork, pipe, front wheel, rearsets etc..http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d9...9/DSCF0043.jpg

Should I track my TL1000R which already has race bodywork modified for street/track duty but is heavy and doesnt handle as good?

One of these. bikes needs to be sold

That's one Hell of a dilemma. If you wanted to race, I'd say, "Get another bike." If it's for track days, I'd say, "use the F4i"out of the three, the F4i is probably the safest and you will probably learn more on it (no matter what level you are at) than you would on a point and shoot bike like the 929 or TL1000.
Not sure exactly what brand the skins are but I'll try to take pics and upload them over the weekend.

To tell you the truth, that's what I keep telling myself. I feel like the 929 can be kind of twitchy at times, but man, I sure got along with it on the street. The F4 [not F4i] took me to a couple of 2nd place finishes back in 2003 even though it was down on power... and looking back on things I had the front end set up all wrong. I can bring the power up to current levels at a later date.
It's only for track days so it doesn't have to be ultra competetive... cheaper on tires too.
I would be foolish to not have a dedicated track bike because I only live 5 miles from Firebird Raceway.
Hmm, I guess all this thinking out loud helps put things in perspective. I think maybe I'll sell the 929
